In this episode, I chat with Dr. Sonali Poudel, a Postdoctoral Fellow in the department of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. In her research, Sonali explores the relationships between children’s home environment, and their cognitive, neural, and language development, using behavioral and neural (EEG) measures. The long-term goal of her research program is to apply evidence from cognitive neuroscience to clinical and policy practices and consequently, to help improve the language, learning, and academic outcomes of children with language delays and disorders.
Sonali shares why she decided to pursue a postdoc, how she found her position, how she determined if the position would be a good fit, and what her weekly responsibilities entail. You can learn more about Sonali and her research on the Children’s Language, Literacy, and Learning Lab website.
